Ground Beef Goulash

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. extra-lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1–1½ tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. paprika
  • ½ tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup flour
  • ¼ cup cold water

Ideal Slow Cooker Size: 4-Quart

Method

  1. Place meat in slow cooker. Cover with onions.
  2. Combine garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, salt, paprika, mustard, and 1 cup water. Pour over meat.
  3. Cook on Low 5–6 hours.
  4. Dissolve flour in ¼ cup cold water. Stir into meat mixture.
  5. Cook on High 10–15 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
  6. Serve over noodles or rice.

Variation

To brighten the flavor, you may add ¼ cup pickle cubes or 2 Tbsp. lemon zest when stirring in thickening in Step 4.
