Applesauce Meatballs

Ingredients

  • ¾ lb. ground beef
  • ¼ lb. ground pork
  • 1 egg
  • ¾ cup soft bread crumbs
  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • ¾ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • oil
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup water

Ideal Slow Cooker Size: 3-Quart

Method

  1. Combine beef, pork, egg, bread crumbs, applesauce, salt, and pepper. Form into -inch balls.
  2. Brown in oil in batches in skillet.
  3. Transfer meat to slow cooker, reserving drippings. Combine ketchup and water and pour into skillet. Stir up browned drippings and mix well. Spoon over meatballs.
  4. Cover. Cook on Low 4–6 hours.
  5. Serve with steamed rice and green salad.
