Method

  1. If you have time, heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Place the roast in the hot pan and brown on all sides.
  2. Place the roast, browned or not, in the slow cooker.
  3. Add remaining ingredients in the order listed.
  4. Cover and cook on High 3 hours, or on Low 4–6 hours, or until meat is tender but not dry.
