My daughter-in-law Ariane’s mother, Matla Cohen, makes charoset the Sephardic way and rolls the mixture into tiny balls. Our grandson Sam loves these as a healthy treat.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup almonds (optional)
  • 2 cups pitted dates
  • 1 tsp

Method

Steel Blade: Process nuts (if using) with 6 to 8 quick on/off pulses, until chopped. Remove from bowl. Check that dates don’t contain any pits. Process with on/off pulses to start, then process until smooth, 25 to 30 seconds. Add cinnamon and 1 Tbsp wine. Process until blended, scraping down sides of bowl as needed.
