10, on toast
By Levi Roots
When I flew to Britain from Jamaica as a boy aged n my first taste of foreign food was baked beans on the plane. Agghhhh! I just wasn’t used to processed food after all the fresh produce I ate on my grandparents’ farm. But here’s a dubbed-up, homemade version of the dish that is so easy to prepare and fills the kitchen with warmth and good aromas. It’s great served on toast or with sausages or ham, Remember, you’ll have to soak the beans the night before cooking.
