  1. Line up the tips of the chives even and cut off a ¾-in. (2-cm) length from the bunch. You will need about 72 chive tips. (If you do not have enough pointed tips, cut the remaining bunch of chives on a very sharp diagonal to create pointed ends, and then cut ¾-in. (2-cm) lengths from them.)
