In the mountains of Meizhou, we ate lunch at the Hakka-owned Yearning Tea Plantation. Hills surrounded us with rows of tea bushes undulating in rhythmic waves of green. We sipped dancong tea, a high-quality local oolong noted for its ability to soothe the throat. Yearning’s logo features a flying wild goose that represents the Hakka fleeing from the north to the south.
