LIKE CONEY ISLAND DOGS, TEXAS HOT DOGS WERE FIRST MADE IN A LAND far from the place for which they’re named. Texas Dogs hail from either Pennsylvania or New Jersey, depending on which hot dog fanatic you ask. And, in another similarity to Coney Island Dogs, their name is an homage to a state that is famous for its chili eaters. But instead of being cooked on a mattop like a Coney Dog, this wiener is deep-fried. The sauce is typically more akin to saltsa kima (Greek meat sauce)
