OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES, HOT DOGS ARE NOT ALWAYS SERVED IN BUNS. Here is a delightfully simple and easy-to-make mat bread that is perfect for those not-so-American dogs.

Ingredients

  • cups (10 ounces) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Method

  1. In a large bowl, mix together ¿our and salt.
  2. Add half the water and mix with a wooden spoon or your hands until a stiff dough forms. Add the remaining water as needed to make a soft but not sticky dough.
  3. Turn out dough onto an un¿oured surface and knead for about 10 minutes. Sprinkle a little water on the dough if it becomes too dry and unworkable.
