Bring a saucepan of salted water to a boil, add the quinoa, and boil for exactly 10 minutes. Pour the quinoa into a sieve and rinse with cold running water. Bring another saucepan of salted water to a boil and blanch the fava beans for a couple of minutes, until al dente. Drain the beans and rinse them with cold water as well.
