I first learned a version of this recipe when I took home economics in seventh grade. When my daughter was growing up, we made it together countless times. Now it is the recipe I make over and over and over again with my grandchildren in Westport, Connecticut. Mixed in one bowl, it couldn’t be easier and couldn’t be better!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter an 8-inch square pan, then line pan with buttered nonstick aluminum foil or parchment paper, leaving a few inches hanging over the sides of the pan on two sides. This will make it easy to lift baked brownies out of pan before cuttin
