Another variation on the cheese and apple pie theme (see Spiced Apple and Wensleydale Pie), this time with an Italian flavour. A simple dollop of fresh cream is all you need to accompany it, but if you prefer something a little more elaborate, try a compote of plums or prunes. Strudel pastry can be time-consuming to make, but filo is generally accepted as a convenient substitute nowadays.
