These are very simple cookies. Wonderfully so, with no fuss, and only very basic ingredients — velvety and comforting butter in abundance, plus a hint of cardamom, which can be replaced with vanilla. Unlike many other Iranian cookies and candies that are supposed be tiny, delicate and meticulous, as if they have been cut out of a page of an illustrated manuscript of Persian poetry, these raisin cookies have a more informal and inelegant way about them, making them easy to both make and eat
