  • 1 medium red cabbage
  • 2 eating apples, peeled, quartered and cored
  • 1 tablespoon

Method

Remove the outside leaves of the cabbage, cut it into quarters, cut out the stalk and slice the leaves into thin shreds. It shouldn’t need washing. Put the sliced cabbage into a buttered casserole, with the apples, sprinkling the layers with the sugar, vinegar, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Cook, covered, at Reg 3/325°
