Butter a small casserole with a close-fitting lid. Sprinkle the salt on to the cubed swede, and put it into the casserole, dotted with the remaining butter. Sprinkle with the sugar, cover very tightly with foil and the lid, for you add no water, and bake in a low oven, or the bottom of a warm oven, for 1½ hours.
