Lay the bread, crusts cut off, in a buttered pie dish in layers, with fruit in between. Beat the eggs with the sugar and add the milk. Pour over the bread and leave to soak for half an hour or so. Cook in a low oven, Reg 1/275°, for one hour, loosely cov
