  • 8 oz flour, 1 level teaspoon cream of tartar and ½ small teaspoon

Method

Preheat the oven to Reg 7½/435°. Sieve the flour, cream of tartar, bicarbonate of soda and salt into a bowl. Rub in the butter at top speed, stir in enough milk to make a slightly stiff dough, and knead the mixture lightly in the bowl. Roll out to half-inch thickness on a floured board
