I first came across this romantically named dish at a dinner given not far from the scene of the exploits of this, the most famous of Highland caterans. Whether cattle-raiding in the fertile ‘laigh countrie’, or chasing the wild deer in the hills, it was unthinkable that the redoubtable Rob Roy should return with his followers lacking the wherewithal for a feast.
