Method

Wash four apples and cut them up roughly. Put them in a jelly-pan with two pounds of sloes, cleared of stalks. Cover with water and boil to a pulp. Strain through a cheese-cloth, but do not squeeze. Measure the liquid and return to the pan, adding a pound of sugar for every pint of juice. Boil fo
