I remember my father buying sesame seeds in an Italian bakery since when I was growing up there were no ethnic markets in The Bronx to buy sesame seeds in bulk. He made this delicious brittle for Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving, adding a Sicilian touch to a beloved American holiday. Giurgiulena is the Sicilian name, and cubaita is the Sicilian-Arabic name for this treat.
