You need not limit this lovely presentation to oranges: the same procedure will work equally well with grapefruit, lemon, and lime—though with any of those, you will need more sugar in the sorbet mixture.

Ingredients

  • 2 navel oranges
  • cups sugar
  • cups orange juice

Method

  1. Cut both of the ends off the oranges so they will sit flat, then cut them in half. Cut around the inside of the rind to remove all the pulp (discard or eat); then use a paring knife to carefully remove as much of the white pith as possible.
