This is beef jerky Tigray style. Drying your own meat is common practice in Tigray. Given there is a propensity for families to butcher a full beast, the need for preservation becomes important. You would usually go into homes to find meat drying in open air on a string with light fabric over the top to prevent flies or dirt coming into contact with it. Once it’s dried, they take what they need then make stews with it, such as Qanta fit fit or snack on it
