Polka dots never go out of style. In addition to decorating with different shades of yellow, you can use round cutters of varying diameters. Stir lemon extract into the icing for more lemon flavor.
Ingredients
- Dough for Lemon-Buttermilk Cookies, cut into various sized rounds
- Royal Icing
- Gel-paste food coloring in various shades of yellow
Method
- Bake the cookies according to the Lemon-Buttermilk Cookies recipe for 12–15 minutes, grouping like-sized cookies together. Let cool completely, about 30 minutes.
- Spoon one-fourth of the icing into a paper cone or pastry bag with a ¼-inch (6-mm) round tip. Divide the remaining icing into thirds and place in separate small bowls
