Kosambri are salad-like dishes from Mysore. This one uses a combination of carrots or radishes and dal but there are many variations. This is an excellent combination of ingredients and can be served alongside most Indian dishes.

Ingredients

  • 50 g (½ cup) moong dal

Method

Soak the dal in plenty of boiling water for 3 hours, then drain.

Finely grate the carrot or radish and combine with the dal, coconut and coriander leaves in a salad bowl. Heat the oil in a small saucepan over medium heat, add the mustard seeds, then cover and shake the pan
