This easy-to-make dessert with its distinctive meringue topping has great rustic charm—it is just as you might find it in a quaint Ukrainian farmhouse. Sometimes fresh fruit is added to the recipe. Let the season, quality, and sense of color be your guide. Fruits that are ripe in the same season are usually good together.
