Isabelle Nicholson, Julee’s next-door neighbor on the beach in Saugatuck, is from a great big, loving Mexican family—fifteen children. And their mother, Frances, is some cook! We’d never thought of making our own chorizos until Frances taught us, and what a difference they make. Chorizos, spicy Spanish sausages, are delicious sautéed and used on Black Bean Nachos or shaped into hamburger-size patties and pan-fried with a poached egg on top for brunch. Add a dollop of sour cream and salsa.</
