• 4 cups warm flour
  • 1 orange rind, grated
  • 3 whole eggs and 6 yolks
  • ½ cup cream, ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 yeast cakes
  • 1 teaspoon salt


Beat eggs with sugar. Add cool melted butter and beat thoroughly. Add orange rind, salt, warm cream and milk. Beat well. Add warm flour gradually and continue to beat. Add yeast dissolved in 1 tablespoon warm milk and mix thoroughly. Beat dough about ten minutes and set aside to rise. When double in bulk, punch down, and let rise again. Proceed to fill and fry as above.
