Chocolate Torte

Tort Czekoladowy


  • 6 eggs
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 squares grated chocolate
  • ¾ cup flour
  • 1 ½ tablespoon vanilla


Beat egg yolks until very thick and lemon-colored. Gradually beat in the sugar. Sift flour and salt together; mix thoroughly but lightly with the chocolate. Add flour mixture to egg yolks and sugar, in about 4 portions. Beat well and add flavoring. Fold in egg whites, beaten stiff but not dry. Bake in a well-buttered spring form pan or deep, round layer cake pan at 325° for 30 minutes. Remove from pan and cool. Split cake in half, fill with sweetened whipped cream into which finely shaved or shredded Brazil nutmeats have been folded.
