Serve this simple, beautiful fruit as part of a fall brunch, or alongside a main course of roast pork, duck, chicken, or ham. For each person:

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe Hachiya persimmon
  • 2 heaping teaspoons brown sugar
  • teaspoons

Method

  1. Cut out leaf end of persimmon, then halve fruit lengthwise. Delicately slide a sharp paring knife around fruit close to the skin to free the flesh (but do not remove from skin).
  2. Spread 1 heaping teaspoon brown sugar evenly on each half; dot both sides evenly with butter.
