The moment that fresh cranberries return to store shelves, I snag a couple pounds minimum and toss them into the freezer for safekeeping. These little red gems actually hold up very well when frozen and can keep for at least six months with little damage. Nonetheless, I always keep a couple of bags handy to bake with, since nothing perks up those tart bog berries like a good dose of sugar.
