This brings back many memories from my childhood. Whenever I ate this dish, I would feel very emotional. It was just so good that I got chills with every bite. I was always fascinated watching my mom use the metate to crush and blend all the ingredients. Seeing all the hard work she put into making this one dish left me speechless. Every night at dinner, my family and I would always eat together, sitting on the ground on a petate (woven mat).
