This is my father’s sloe gin recipe and will be too sweet for some tastes, but I’m writing it exactly as it was. He measured everything visually by pints, using a measuring jug for both liquids and solids and not embracing the metric system. He normally used 3 pints’ worth of each of the ingredients, for a house normally well stocked with half-wine bottles filled up with this drink. This recipe makes enough to get you through the winter.
