The Mean Green

Avocado, Spinach and Berry Smoothie Bowl


Don’t be afraid of a green smoothie. Just because it’s green, doesn’t mean it isn’t delicious.



  • ¼ ripe avocado
  • 2 medium-sized ripe bananas, sliced and frozen
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
  • 2 handfuls baby spinach
  • cups coconut water
  • 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal
  • 1 tablespoon moringa powder
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter
  • squeeze of lemon juice


  • granola (see nutty crunch)
  • chia seeds
  • fresh berries
  • coconut flakes
  • hemp seeds
  • raw or roasted nuts


Add all the smoothie ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Add the smoothie to a bowl and then decorate with toppings of your choice, making this bowl delicious for the eyes too. I’ve given a list of what I like to pair with mine.
