Date balls are a power snack to have in the fridge and are simply delicious. If you feel like a lighter dessert after dinner, this is the perfect bite-sized option to satisfy your sweet tooth. You can play around with adding different elements and flavours if you like, such as fresh mint or orange zest.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup raw almonds
  • ¾ cup hazelnuts (or other nut of your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1 cup fresh medjool dates (12–15 dates)
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon hemp protein powder
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter (or other nut butter)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup)
  • 1 tablespoon raw cacao powder
  • ½ cup desiccated coconut

Method

Add the almonds, hazelnuts, oats and chia seeds to a food processor and blend until a flour forms. Add the dates, coconut oil, protein powder, nut butter, honey and cacao powder and blend until a crumbly paste forms.

Add the desiccated coconut to a separate small bowl. Using your hands, form the date mixture into bite-sized balls and roll them in the coconut. Put them in the fridge for 15 minutes to let them set before serving. Or you can put them in an airtight container and keep them for later.
