These beef skewers have all the fixings of the legendary lamb skewers, plus some oyster sauce for sweetness and Chinese five-spice for flavor. I tend to prefer lamb, obviously, but if you’re not a fan of its gaminess, beef is a good substitute. Or do what the best hosts do and offer both.
Cut the beef into rectangles that are 1 inch (2.5 cm) long, ½ inch (12 mm) wide, and ½ inch (12 mm) thick.
In a large bowl, combine the remaining ingredients to make a marinade and add the beef. Stir well to combine.
