Crisphead or Round

Generally round lettuces, consisting of tightly packed layers of crisp leaves, including the iceberg — so named because the heads were packed in boxes and covered with ice for transport and said to resemble icebergs. Other varieties include the webb, imperial, western and vanguard lettuces.
