  • About
Syrah is one of the noble red grapes of the Rhone region in southern France. While often confused with Petite Sirah, it is not related. Syrah has been grown successfully in California for a number of decades and has many fans due to it’s peppery, spicy quality and intense, full-flavored fruit. Syrah is often blended with Grenache and Mourvedre, another Rhone variety, to make New World red blends that resemble Chateauneuf-du-Pape. It is often made without blending as well.
Syrah is well suited to red meat dishes, particularly grilled and braised preparations with full, robust flavors.
