  • About
Almost from its inception Heinz was extremely interested in making sales outside the United States. Heinz regularly displayed its products at international food exhibitions. Before the end of the nineteenth century Heinz sold ketchup extensively in Canada and the United Kingdom and had established agencies in Antwerp, Belgium, Sydney, Australia, and Bermuda. By 1899 new agencies had been established in Mexico City, Mexico, Liverpool, England, and the Canadian cities of Toronto and Montreal. By 1907 Heinz was shipping products in five-gallon cans and forty-six-gallon wooden casks to England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, South America, Europe, Japan, and China. In 1910 Heinz built its first factory outside the United States in Leamington, Ontario, Canada. Heinz has continued to expand abroad and is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
