You need: 1 part bourbon, ½ part Ramazzotti (or another amaro like Averna), ½ part red vermouth (Alex likes Antica Formula, or Lillet Rouge if he wants it to be a tad sweeter, but you can also use Martini or Cinzano), a tiny dash of Angostura bitters, a handful of ice cubes, and 1 maraschino cherry.
Measure the spirits precisely into a glass of ice.
Stir the drink with a spoon.
Serve with one of those cheerful cherries. It’s a knockout drink, but I’m quite fond of it.
