REMARKS Maximum length 70 cm. Has a much more regular lateral line than the liche, and may also be distinguished by its markedly V-shaped tail and its spots.

This species is a close relation of Trachinotus carolinus, the well-known Florida pompano. The genus is well represented in American and Caribbean waters.
