REMARKS Maximum length 20 cm. This sole has a brown back, freely marked with darker spots. It is the only sole found in the Black Sea, and appears to be closely related to Solea impar Bennett, a species which belongs, although not exclusively, to the Adriatic Sea and which Italians know as sogliola adriatica.
