  • About

This beautiful, small, brightly colored apple (which is part of the crab apple family, as any apple tree that produces fruit 2 inches/5 cm or less in diameter is classified as such) is one of many in a distinguished group known as old apples. Lady apples originated in France and date all the way back to the Middle Ages. Their gorgeous red color (although you will also find them with a touch of green) and perfectly formed miniature proportions give them a storybook charm that makes them very popular for decorative use, especially around the holidays. The white flesh is sweet, and Lady apples are excellent for use, fresh, on desserts. Season: Late fall to early winter.
