Located in the Strathspey region of the Cairngorms National Park with one of the best views of the Cairngorms mountain range, Lynbreck Croft spans 150 acres of mixed grassland, woodland, hill ground and a large peat bog. Lynn Cassells and Sandra Baer (Irish and Swiss, respectively) had no previous experience of any kind of farming, let alone Highland crofting, but both came from backgrounds as countryside rangers for the National Trust in the south of England and they moved to the area with a view to creating a self-sufficient life for themselves by practising regenerative farming and rotational grazing. Lynn and Sandra work with their Highland cattle, which are 100% pasture and tree leaf fed, and with their pasture and woodland raised pigs, laying hens and honeybees, to improve biodiversity and build organic matter into their soils. In a relatively short time they have already stacked up several awards and their crofting life was showcased on the BBC programme This Farming Life in 2019.
