  • About

Miniature pumpkins (Cucurbita pepo) are not mere decorations. Think of these pumpkinettes as a quick-and-easy one-person-anytime dinner delight. They are as delicious as any larger squash, and some are more so. Whether cream or orange, they are likely to be sweet, firm, fully packed, and flavorful. The scalloped and flattened types are drier and sweeter than the rounded types, which have more tender pulp and skin. All weigh from ¼ to ¾ pound. Some have edible skin, some don’t. (And once again, these are not “designer” toys, but fruits developed long ago in China.)
