  • About
For years I’ve been buying Anya potatoes from Sainsbury’s and wondering why we couldn’t get them in the restaurants. Then I was introduced to Clare Harrison, who works for MBM Potatoes, who basically grow and source the best potatoes for the marketplace for mashing, chipping, roasting, etc. Clare will give you the low-down on most spuds, including the queen of spuds, the Anya.
The Anya potato is basically a cross between the Pink Fir Apple potato and the Red Desiree, and can be the most delicious salad potato, although nearing the end of its season it does tend to get a bit dry and floury. MBM developed them in collaboration with Sainsbury’s and they have since won the ‘Fresh Produce’ Q Award at the 2003 Quality Food & Drink Awards.
