Man has been eating eggs for thousands of years, both for their nutritional value and also for the lightening and raising properties they bring to baking. Eggs are a versatile, high-protein food — one large egg provides about 15 per cent of the daily recommended protein intake for an adult, with no carbohydrate and only about 59 calories (247 kilojoules).
