Raw salads are considered cold, rough and hard to digest in Ayurveda. They are okay in small quantities for Pitta types, but not great for anyone who is stressed-out or run-down, or Vata and Kapha types with wavering and slow digestion, respectively. Here are three Dosha-friendly salads, each lightly cooked so you still get the crunch of a salad without it flopping into a stew. All Dosha types can enjoy the other salads on occasion, unless they know they are feeling imbalanced that day. Asparagus is a Tridoshic wonder – whenever it is in season, make sure you stick it in your salad!
