Suggested Dishes for Antipasto di Mare
Antipasto di mare is found on the menu of every fish restaurant along the Marche’s Adriatic coast What could be more pleasant than sitting on a terrace overlooking the sea eating antipasto di mare, mopping up the oil and garlic juices from the shellfish with the local unsalted bread and washing it all down with a glass of chilled local white Verdicchio wine. The antipasto di mare very much depends on the catch of the day. Sometimes sea snails (imporchetta) are added, vongole marinara instead of mussels and so on. Although The Walnut Tree is not by the sea, shellfish for this dish are delivered from the coast every morning and although the customers have mountains to look out at, not the sea, it is nevertheless a very popular dish.
