  • About
This large group contains the majority of the small, brown Cortinarius species. The simplest identifying characteristic is that most of them are hygrophanous, the cap and flesh darkening when wet. They are only sticky in very wet weather. Look for young gill colours, the colours of the veil, and interesting or remarkable smells.
