The 2000s saw the take-off of the smartphone that would sit in almost every pocket within a decade. The first iteration of the iPhone was unveiled in 2007. And with these ever-more ingenious devices came a legion of geeks whose job it was to invent ever-more fanciful things to do with smartphones: ‘social media’ was born.
